Book Covers

Every fall I buy the required large size stretchy book covers for the kids' textbooks. And every year most of them come home midyear looking no worse for the wear. That would be because they don't fit the text books. And I am talking about any textbook you would find in any classroom K-12. Why do they makers of these fantabulous book covers not make them bigger? And why do teachers require them if they don't fit? I refuse to buy the covers next year. They can reuse the ones that didn't work this year or the year before or the year before that.

Brrr!

The weather! Wow! If you are out in it too long, you certainly don't need to be taking Leptovox to burn fat. Your body will naturally burn fat to help keep you warm. I have spent some time outside and I wonder how many calories I burned by working and keeping my body warm. It would be something interesting to know. Despite the extra calories burned, I will be staying inside as much as possible.

Plans

I think we will be putting a Westgate in the paddock this spring. We have decided to compost all of our chicken manure. There is a spot in the paddock where the horse poops and it is the perfect spot to start a couple of compost piles. But we need to put a gate in to be able to add the chicken manure, turn the compost and load it up to put on the garden. Yes, spring plans have already begun and it has been spurred on by the arrival of the seed catalogs. I love spring planning!

Teen Driver

Its hard to believe that in just a year we will have a licensed teen driver in the house! I guess we need to start preparing ourselves for the increase in our car insurance premium along with how much we spend on gas. Oh, wait. I think that he can probably pick up the gas. I am sure that he will continue to have a job since he loves to work. And I am looking forward to having an extra driver in the house to help shuffle kids. However, I am still bracing myself for the extra worry. Definitely good and bad with having a teen driver.

New TV....Not

I had originally thought that we might buy the family a new tv and tv stand for Christmas. When I started looking at tv's I realized that thinking about it was as far as it was going to get. When in the world did new tv's become so stinking expensive??? Does it have to do with the switch to hd next month? It is just crazy to have to spend no less than $400 on a new tv. I guess we will take our little coupon to the store and buy a converter box for $10 instead. Maybe in a few years we will be able to buy a new tv. Hopefully by then the prices will have gone down some.
